Brooklyn Bridge Trolley c.1910 24” x 36” Black and White Print
If you can’t have a home in New York, just bring New York into your home.
Lifelong Williamsburg, Brooklyn resident Ray Simone has spent most of his life collecting old photo negatives. In the 1970s and 80s, the photographer/collector would scour flea markets, street fairs, stoop sales and estate sales all across New York City and buy all the old camera negatives he could find. (Some of them date as far back as the 1890s!) He now owns an amazing archive of original photos of Old New York—beautiful black and white photos that are not available anywhere else. Simone personally digitizes each photo and painstakingly retouches them, pixel by pixel, giving us these glorious glimpses of the New York City of yore.
